Waste Management
Mowers are designed to clip the grass, but the clippings can potentially damage the lawn you’re trying to maintain. There are a few attachments that will help you manage them.
Mulching Kit
Mulching kits are ideal for large residential properties and commercial lawns alike. There’s a special blade that grass clippings get directed into, mulching and chopping them up to minimize the damage they can do. They can even become valuable fertilizer for the grass, as the new mulch contains all the nutrients a healthy lawn needs!
Material Collector
If you’re more concerned about a nice, livable lawn, a collection kit can keep you from getting too many grass stains. It connects to the back of your mower and adds a chute, hopper, and storage container to the machine. These collect the clippings so you can dispose of them elsewhere.
Brush Guard
A lawn mower isn’t cheap, so it’s important to protect your investment. Brush guards or bumpers can help do just that. They help keep branches and debris from dinging the front of your mower. If yours has a radiator at its front, this is particularly important, preventing stray branches from sliding through the grate and damaging your cooling system.
Lights
No matter how carefully you plan, sometimes you just don’t make it out before the sun gets low. Adding lights to your lawn mower can help you work in low light and beat the heat. LED lights are even better, so long as your manufacturer doesn’t recommend against it.
Riding Mower Canopy
The weather can be a serious obstacle to a good mowing, but if you have a riding mower, you’re in luck—you can install a canopy. They’re inexpensive, easy to install, and can protect you from heat and light precipitation. It isn’t a climate-controlled cab, but it gets the job done!
